Medical background

Shortly after being adopted, we were contacted by Tokki's adoptive mom letting us know something was off. Tokki's one ear was drooped with no other signs of a medical issue present. It was then we asked the adoptive mom to book Tokki in to see the vet. They had already had this in the works and thankfully she was seen quickly.

Tokki: About

Lateral Stepping

Tokki was working on her second round of antibiotics, Baytril, with no signs of improvement.

When we saw Tokki doing this side stepping movement we immediately asked for her to be seen by a more rabbit savvy vet to help us catch this before anything turned into permanent damage.

We also emailed our regular vet to ask her opinion so that we again could get a jump on this. Our regular vet said this was very unusual to see and also suggested EC might be the cause which our owner suspected from the beginning.

Recovery

Thankfully during Tokki's exam with our local exotic emerge hospital, we had everything come back in the normal ranges. We put her on Panacur to start pretreating EC and so far it seems to be doing the trick!

Tokki is now on the road to recovery with her forever family who refused to give up on her! It is so heartwarming to see our adoptive parents going out of their way to get their newly adopted buns the help they need and in such a timely manner. Thanks to Tokki's mom paying close attention to detail and her quick action, Tokki is going to be ok!
