Background Information:
We sent a rescue team out when we were contacted about dumped rabbits. While on site we realized these rabbits had an owner. We spoke to the owner about the rabbits and possibly taking them over. The owner said he didn’t care about 2 of the rabbits however, the other 3 are liked by his children and we were unable to have the 3 surrendered into our care.
These 5 rabbits were being kept free roam outside under a flower planter table that the owner surrounded with chicken wire, one side was left open for the rabbits to be able to get in and out.
Mom and dad were surrendered into our care, their mom, Ginny, came into the rescue pregnant,
About Lily:
Lily is more cautious, likes to have and find as many hiding spots as possible. Make sure books and shoes are out of reach, she is naughty and views these items as hers and will add her mark. Lily is more cuddly of the sisters, she is comfortable free roaming as much as she likes. She will sleep inside of her pen while the door is open and will often fight to get the door open as Rose prefers to sleep under chairs and at the end of the bed. Lily is fairly shy but likes to play hide and seek with you when she’s excited.
About Rose:
Rose is very outgoing and curious; the dominant sister of the two. She loves to steal food and stash it, especially from Lily who waits until Rose adventures off to eat. She will eat hay 24/7 when she’s not sleeping and then loves her zoomies for hours. Rose requires stimulation or she can become a naughty bun. She is a little less of a cuddle bug but likes to lay on you if you’re near the floor/cozied up in bed. One of the tricks she knows is taking food from your mouth. Rose loves explore pillows, blanket forts, large boxes, and big containers full of plastic ball pit balls. Being the dominant sister, Lily will over-groom if they are separated for too long or if Rose is ignoring her.
About the pair:
Both girls are litter trained! They prefer to be fed near their litter while having two separate sources of water as they won’t drink if it’s full of hay, Rose will also scoot lily out of the way.
Their favorite treats are blueberries and peeled green apples as treats. Their favourite foods aside from romaine are red leaf lettuce, sage, and fennel. They seem to be more nervous around larger dogs but seem fairly curious about kitties. They don't seem to mind vacuums or fans, but will scurry away from abrupt shaking/rattling noises and loud television is not something they enjoy. Making sure they have lots of things to keep them occupied while free roaming is a must with these sisters. They will occasionally get restless in their cage at night, but seem to enjoy soft toned music/nature sounds if they are stressed or bored. Both sisters are very loving, don’t bite or growl, and are gentle when you’re patient and will allow you to hold them/trim their nails. They just take a little patience to build trust in you.
